A leading Eugene chiropractor, Dr. Michael Herb received his doctoral degree from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, and he is also a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Only about 300 physicians across the United States have obtained this honor and specialization in sports medicine. Prior to his training in chiropractic and sports medicine, Dr. Herb attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Cincinnati for bachelor’s and master’s level courses. During this time, he worked as a personal trainer helping clients reach their goals. He originally became impassioned with the health care field while attaining his degree as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and working in both the emergency department and ambulatory care.
Dr. Herb has always had a strong desire to help others to improve their health and lead a more fulfilling lifestyle. As a point of pride, he considers it his duty as a chiropractic sports physician to not only care for his patient’s injuries but also to focus a great deal of time educating them on exactly what is taking place and the proper procedures to both get out of pain and resume normal activities at an optimum level. As such, Dr. Herb enjoys working with other providers within the medical community to achieve these goals. His experience and passion for each and every patient’s well being ensures that proper care will be found either through his clinic or the correct referral to another specialist if the need arises.
Chiropractic and sports medicine, as practiced at Absolute Wellness Center, is centered on evidence-based care. In order to do this, Dr. Herb stays up to date on the latest research and clinical trial findings so that he may offer the most effective care possible and achieve results in the shortest amount of time. His practice offers both the latest tools for treatment as well as a large rehabilitation suite where patients are shown appropriate therapeutic exercises directed by the doctor and our physical rehabilitation team to maximize their healing and maintain it well after their treatment is finished. Science is used as a tool but is not mistaken for all that is needed. Each and every patient who is seen by Dr. Herb is treated as an individual with unique needs and a desire to be treated as a person and not just a symptom. He will speak with you along the route to better health to ensure that all procedures are explained in an understandable fashion and that your goals as a patient, and as a person, are the focus.
While not in the clinic, Dr. Herb is an avid weight lifter and can be found trying to pick up the heaviest weights he can find. He also enjoys reading fiction and philosophy, loves being around animals, and trying to make his wife Whitney watch scary movies.
Dr. Michael Herb was recognized from 2013 – 2019 as one of Eugene’s Top Doctors in Sports Medicine, Chiropractic Medicine, and Physical Medicine.
Dr. Herb was a proud board member of Oregon Chiropractic Association in 2015, taking steps to promote the health and wellness of Oregon citizens, and ensure chiropractic medicine has a growing and prominent role in our healthcare system. He continues to participate and volunteer.
